Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud - Blow Up The Spot
Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud - Blow Up The Spot 1993
Celebrating that to passed my 20Anniversary, jejej.. I have decided to posted this EP. The song is cutesy in the worst possible way, cheese drips from every line 'n' synth wooorg 'n' saxophone blarr. & then they rip off "Give It Away" on "What Do You Know". But after the first two songs, Super Lover Cee & Casanova step it up 'n' live up to their Wild Pitch label. The last 5 songs have some classy loops over which these two MC's trade rather playful verses that still manage to be somewhat aggressive. This duo could've made the transition to 90's hip hop; they prove it over the last 5 tracks, but it's not enough to create a classic. A curiosity, nothing more; stick to the greatness of '93 on Wild Pitch.

Ahmad - Ahmad
Ahmad - Ahmad 1994
An excellent lyricist with a smooth voice and great flow, Ahmad (who was only 18 when he made this), this man is spit. Delivers an upbeat, laid-back street tale about making the best of growing up in a poor neighborhood, reminiscing about the joys of being a kid on his huge hit trying to keep from going under ("The Jones"), enjoying the local party atmosphere ("The Palladium"), and basically proving that it is entirely possible to overcome the troubles faced by growing inner-city kids. I remember when "Back In The Day"(Remix) was first played on the radio. This release promotion on Warner Bros/Wea label.

Various Blends - Levitude
Various Blends - Levitude 1999
Various Blends were originally formed in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1991, and consisted of MCs/producers Friz-B and Eb.F (both friends from childhood) an alternative rap outfit formed in 1991 and finally issuing their first full-length, and MC Rasco. They grew out of a previous group called Children of One Destiny, It's an impressive record, highlighting the duo's ample lyrical skills and skewed perspective, while featuring a number of mostly West Coast guests: Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Saafir, the Mystik Journeymen, Pizmo of Burnt Batch, Rashinel of Hobo Junction, and members of The Coup and Invisibl Skratch Piklz. Which also included future solo artist Saafir. In 1995, the trio released a local 12" single, "Chill as I Flex," but went on hiatus when Rasco departed for a solo career the following year (he would go on to record for Peanut Butter Wolf's Stones Throw label). In the meantime, Eb.F DJed around the area under the name DJ Rasta Cue Tip, and he and Friz-B reconvened as Various Blends in 1999. With production by both group members, as well as Peanut Butter Wolf, and turntable contributions from Dj Serg, Various Blends finally issued their first full-length album, Levitude, on Label Baraka Foundation in late 1999. It gained favorable reviews for its inventive, trippy production, but not much exposure. Baraka also issued an instrumental version of the album in 2000.

Big Dada - Black Whole Styles
Big Dada - Black Whole Styles 1998
Being so scarce, it might seem unlikely that there would be one near enough for us to observe as an individual source of gamma raps. But since gravity would draw primordial black whole styles toward any matter, they should be much more common in and around galaxies" Stephen S.Walking, 'A Brief History Of Rhyme'. Big Dada are proud to present their first album, BLACK WHOLE STYLES. A compilation of previously released, exclusive and
remixed tracks from the label, its continuing mission is to show that space is only the place if you've got the ideas to fill it. Drawing on MCs and producers from New York to York, BLACK WHOLE STYLES continues the label's well-established commitment to original and creative hip hop - wherever it's from.
Big Dada's first release came out in June 1997. Since then they have defined a spirit of adventure that has sometimes left people baffled, occasionally dazzled. Their efforts won them some acclaim (5th in Hip Hop Connection's Readers' Poll Label Of The Year 1997, a place above Def Jam - yeah baby) and the nod of those in-the-know as ones to watch in 1998. Now, with Roots Manuva signed up to put out an album by the autumn and interest growing rapidly overseas, they hope to fulfil those predictions. BLACK WHOLE STYLES is one small step. Scientifik - Criminal
Scientifik - Criminal 1994
Boston area rapper Scientifik, Criminal, which was denied a proper domestic release due to industry politricks, that lives on in the boom-bap afterlife of folklore, vinyl bootleg, hissy dub, and mp3 download. Criminal boasts a mid-90s dream team of producers – deities RZA, Buckwild, and Diamond D contribute beats – as well as a tragic, dramatic back story. Police theorize that Scientifik shot his girlfriend to death and then turned his gun on himself in late 1996, but the case is still officially unsolved due to incomplete evidence. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this record retains a cult following. It ain’t hard to tell why the music is still captivating. On the mic Scientifik is certainly competent, and by 1994 standards he operates correctly, dropping jewelz and relating crime sagas in a soldierly, commanding voice that flexes just enough to reveal his famished intensity. It doesn’t hurt that some of the beats are absolutely tremendous bangers. The mid-album string of “East Coast Jungle,” “I Got Plans,” and “Lawtown” is as good as it gets; each song typifies that ol’ brooding, moody, Gotham City at midnight hardcore rap sound that safe harbor mixshow DJs and their insomniac fans once coveted.
Criminal is a work teeming with skills that successfully panders to the consensus of aficionados; this is the album’s primary strength and its ultimate weakness. Even if we adjust for the era’s overflow of beloved gems and our current nostalgia for the cerebral street music of yesterday, we are left with mega-quality sans distinction. Guest verses from hugely magnetic legends Diamond D and Ed OG only accentuate Scientifik’s dearth of album-carrying charisma. Criminal lacks the dimension and enjoyability of similarly shelved and/or sabotaged mid-90s projects like Jemini the Gifted One’s Scars and Pain, even if its standout songs shine brighter.

Akinyele - Live At The Barbecue Unreleased Hits
Akinyele - Live At The Barbecue Unreleased Hits 1996
The tracks on "Live at the Barbecue - Unreleased Hits" range from seductively smooth to high-strung intensity. The Bucwild produced "Yo" sounds like a song ripped straight from "Vagina Diner" and left on the cutting room floor, although it clearly shouldn't have been. The Doctor Butcher produced "Enter" is a slumbering track with deep hits of Mobb Deep influence. CJ Moore's "Freaky" beat could ring any underground mix tape from the mid-90's to today, with more of Ak's trademark quips like "I'm so pro black I don't even pick the cotton out of aspirins." Neither the original or the remix version of "Break a Bitch Neck" with Kool G. Rap is to be missed on this release, and the pairing is a match made in underground rap heaven. You just can't front on tracks like "Fly Away" and "Off the Hook," where the Lefrak rapper busts more verbal nuts than he has on his last three sextified albums combined. Rob Swift interludes, which is not surprising when you consider he was the DJ, this album printed by Eastern Conference label. Recorded & Mixed @ Power Play Studios L.I.C by C.J. Moore.

Dilated Peoples - Imagery, Battle Hymns & Political Poetry 1995
Dilated Peoples is a group residing in California. heir members include DJ Babu (Producer/DJ), Evidence (Rapper/Producer) & Rakaa Iriscience (Rapper). Its members, DJ Babu from the DJ crew Beat Junkies, Evidence, & Rakaa joined together in '95 They recorded an album "Imagery, Battle Hymns & Political Poetry" on Immortal Records, The album does have a Redman guest apperance which is cool, since Red was still pretty raw at this time. X to the Z also makes an apperance, marking one of his early performances on wax. The album isn't the greatest by any means, but it's worth a listen and probably a nice grab for those hardcore Dilated fans out there. The sound quality is pretty crappy and some of the songs are cut short, but from what I can gather from others out there, this is the only version floating around, so you have to make due with what it is. Special ED - Revelations
Special ED - Revelations 1995
Not many artists can take a 6 year hiatus and make a shocking return. Hip hop late 80's veteran Special Ed after leaving many fans believing that he fell off the face of the Earth returns after a 6 year hiatus(if that's really what happened). 1989's album Youngest In Charge which quickly put Ed in the limelight with the off the charts single "I Got It Made". It did seem that the light quickly diminished shortly thereafter though until 1994 when Ed is featured as a "Crooklyn Dodger" along with Buckshot from Black Moon and Masta Ace for a song of the Crooklyn movie soundtrack entitled "Crooklyn" which displays Ed as a little more hardcore now than fans remember...on the strength of his "Crooklyn" appearance, Ed decides to take that ball and run with it putting out 1995's Revelations...you can tell that Ed is attempting to stay up to date by the album cover which displays with a thugged out image and a mean scowl on his face playing into the hardcore hip hop genre during the mid 90's. The first single "Neva Go Back" actually displays Ed referring to his old school persona and image and strongly indicating that he isn't going back to the way things were. The lyrics were explicit and a little too much perhaps for fans to catch on to. The production was catchy as hell and was immediately neck-snapping. Ed's delivery however didnt seem to display an MC who evolved or progressed after a 6 year absence which may come off a disappointing at times for those who are expecting to hear that vintage Special Ed. Nevertheless, those who are diehard fans will of course enjoy this LP is Classic. Produce by Akshun, Mark Sparks & Special Ed, for Profile Records..

This guy is well known as being one of the golden age producers, along with Buckwild, Diamond D, DJ Premier, Showbiz, Pete Rock, K-Def, Large Professor, Marley Marl, Da Beatminerz, Easy Mo Bee, and so forth. If you haven't heard this guy, don't sleep on this. I would say this guy is as good. There are 14 Instrumentals. Of Legendary M.C., Producer, and DJ, Lord Finesse, brings you his most sought after & hard to find productions, This record was a hard one to get a hold of. Especially because it's one of those Soundtable exclusive releases that you could only get through Soundtable in Japan. Just like their other releases-"The Funky Man Remix" EP, and an exclusive Large Professor 12" they had were only available through them with the hook ups or through their website as a valued customer. Damn! Well I was extremely lucky enough to get a ear it of unreleased and exclusive instrumentals produced by The Funkyman himself. Classic Finesse production Peaceeeeeee & enjoy.
